On Monday evening the great and the good gathered to celebrate the Oscars of the research world: the MRS Awards 2015. A record number of guests – nearly 850 – attended the event which took place at the pop-up Supernova London venue in Embankment Gardens. The night was compèred by actor and comedian Miles Jupp, doyen of the comedy circuit and the newly anointed chair of The News Quiz on BBC Radio 4 (and Archie from Balamory for those of a certain age).
Camargue worked closely with MRS on the awards from inception to delivery on the night – working with Jane Bainbridge, editor of Impact, to shape the award categories and criteria and managing the judging process. We also wrote the awards script.
On the day of the awards we briefed our celebrity host and ran rehearsals before providing organisational support to the MRS team on the night. With the event in full swing, we were busy interviewing attendees on camera about their experience of the evening, their highlights from 2015 and their hopes for 2016. After the ceremony, we carried out further interviews with some of the evening’s excited winners. The ‘vox pops’ will be used to create a video montage of the event for use on the MRS website.
